Professional Overview
Angela Wolfenberger is an accomplished and award-winning clinical dietitian with extensive experience in private practice. She previously served as a bariatric dietitian at Queen’s Medical Center and as Acting Nutrition Manager and Lead Clinical Dietitian at North Hawaii Community Hospital. In these roles, she provided expert nutrition care in inpatient medical-surgical and ICU units, family birthing, and a range of outpatient clinics, including diabetes, oncology, home health, wound care, surgical care, and community outreach.
Education and Credentials
Angela holds a Master of Science in Human Nutrition from Columbia University (Honors), a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Kansas State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology Education from Appalachian State University. She completed her clinical internship at Mayo Clinic. She is certified by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in pediatric and adolescent weight management, is a trained Diabetes Prevention Plan lifestyle coach, and has studied herbalism with leading figures such as Rosalee de Foret and Rosemary Gladstar. Currently, she is pursuing further studies in medical mycology with Mushroom Mountain and Tai Chi through Harvard University.
Awards and Publications
Angela is a recipient of the Spirit of Sodexo National Gold Award for her outstanding contributions to the field. She has contributed articles to The Integrative RDN, Vegetarian Nutrition Update, and Weight Management Matters.
Teaching and Lecturing
Angela regularly lectures on Weight Management in Clinical Nutrition at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, presents on bariatric nutrition for the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN), and provides educational sessions to community groups and schools throughout West Hawaii.
Leadership and Service
Angela serves as the State Policy Representative for the Hawaii Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (HAND). She has previously been the Research Briefs Editor for the Weight Management Dietetic Practice Group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and has moderated the Nutritionfacts.org health and nutrition website.
